Pick the Right Shifter

Q: Rod Linkage Shifter?

A: Use the Rod Linkage (SW280-R) Shifter if:

1- You are using a very low profile factory console

2- The factory console does not have room inside for a cable shifter

3- Most applications considered a "Hot Rod"

4- Cable length would be less than 30 inches.

Q: Cable Shifter?

A: Use the Cable (SW280-C) Shifter if:

1- The factory console was intended for a cable shifter

2- The cable can more easily accommodate space conflicts

Q: What transmissions does the shifter work with?

A: The shifter is designed to work with ALL GM 3-speed and 4-speed transmissions.

Q: How far does the handle travel?

A: The handle travels farther at the knob as the length of the handle increases. Also it travels farther if a 4 speed transmission is used.

At the base of the handle the shifter travel is about 3 ½ inches for the 3-speed and 4 inches for the 4-speed OD.

Shiftworks also offers a Short-Gate detent kit that will reduce handle travel both at the knob and at the base.

NOTE: The short gate is only available for Rod Linkage.
